I tend to use HDR fairly conservatively as often it will result in a terrible image with many horrid artifacts, that ends up being worse than just using a single exposure.

I have printed a copy and even on a cheap canon photo printer the result is quite pleasing.

Also I highly recommend "Digital Photography, fine print workshop" by George DeWolfe, a very informative and helpful read.
